As you may noticed, if you follow me over FB; that I have taken to counting the days to the New Year.

A 21 day catalogue of Highlights captured this year.

Using this Season for it’s original purpose to take stock , turn inwards and prepare for the New ahead – I would like to share my Highlights with you too.

I enjoy looking back through a vast and versatile portfolio I gathered through 2016.

#character #portraiture … more than just play !??!?

So … having spend a considerable amount on filmsets in recent months (as supporting artist and BTS Photographer) for some major big feature and small TV productions and short films, having had the pleasure to meet many peers in the industry with time on hand to chat … my curiosity about the place of a creative character portraiture was yet again awakened. Let alone my inspiration fueled …

With a an undeniable saturation of enthusiastic and ambitious freelancers, that populate London, that are looking to find footing in the industry – perhaps  as Extras, perhaps as Actors in the making …all the same the representation of playfulness and ability to represent character, is what may just set you apart.

With the understanding that there is a argument to be had in between , typecasting, branding and showing versatility and ability to enact what is asked of you. I have taken my camera to those that are happy to explore with me , possible advancements of this niche – giving play a purpose!?

More often than not , it has come up in conversation that fellow Actors, Supporting artists and Extras felt that they are giving a particular role, character that not necessarily encompasses all that they are , can be or wish to be – the unwanted typecast that some agents just seem to stick with.

I am wondering how this very Agent would feel, if they were to receive a picture communicating the subjects ability to do different, to be adventurous and playful!? Or would these pictures not provide content for your hungry facebook feeds – showing your interest passion, commitment,

‘playfullness’ !?

Or just a little quirky image to look at and be reminded of the willingness to play … the phone may start ringing … , perhaps.

However I am really keen to hear your opinion and suggestions, or if you allow me to dress you up and set a scene for you and picture, explore the possible function … Get in touch.

Shine and snap: 01-02-16 … picturing *you*

Here we are, well into the new year and things are in full swing, with already quite a few Photography assignments under my belt.

Not letting go of my main passion in Photography (studio & people) I have booked another studio day:

for Monday the 1st of February 2016

on stage #theatre … the ultimate #character #portrait

After a summer mostly on location and amongst other things : a short term contract working in theatre, seeing the characters evolve and record such in some Photos:

I reflect on what has been and how that shapes into where I want to be.

Having had he pleasure of sitting through weeks of rehearsals for this ambitious project of staging a nigerian play …with incredible depth … mission and vision, I feel I attuned my senses for people being in character…

Projecting an authentic sense of emotions and thus telling a story beyond the surface,

reminding us of all there is to human life in our increasingly shrinking global village…

Bringing this back to my preferred photography environment (well I may be swayed as film sets and theaters are just as amazing)

and I am thrilled to know what assignments and projects will be staged in front of my lens in coming weeks.

(yes I still can do your straightforward fairly plain, white backdrop: actors headshot too – BUT)

Group HEADSHOTS

Recent assignments saw me working alongside the theatre company @Eclipsetheatre

ECLIPSE WEBSITE

and their current PROJECT #revolutionmix

Which saw me producing Head shots of around 15 people in under an hour.

This worked really well; once we found a cosy spot, suiting the sitters and Camera settings : we where on a role.

These arrangements work really well to capture all your participants,colleagues contributors or all other occasions where you have some important people in a room – with still enough time and skill spend on getting the essence of each person.

ON LOCATION #Headshots

I often wondered if the studio is the best place for a headshot session and I feel it has got its advantages,

…but there is something to be said about Locations Headshots. It adds a little texture and flavor to the background, hard to achieve in the studio, and quite often it gets a relaxed causal approach in the sitter.

Equipped with my new set of prime lenses and a keen I eye … this is an exciting field to explore.

SUNNY SUMMER LOCATIONS #free #photoshoot #offer

GUASTALLA Promo 4Recent #location #Portraiture has reminded me, of how much ‘Character’ there is in the picture; how much atmosphere  and how quickly this can be found, when shooting on location.

A Location suitable (or in this case actual working environment ) for the sitter.

GUASTALLA Promo 3I had the pleasure of picturing these musician and it was very exiting to not only hear their music but to be in this very grand location in a Church in central London. It really made me think and wish: to have more opportunities to pursuit the Magic of capturing ‘Character Portraiture’ on location.
