SPRING at THE PAXTON CENTRE

Some may have seen the ( unwatermarked) Giclee prints of these at Beckenham Mansion (one is permantly hanging in the cafe in the basement) at our open studio days.

But I have been invited to show my work at The Paxton Centre , this month.

The original prints are very different to these watermarked on screen impressions, but more important is the environment and ambience of the art cafe – which enhances the intentions, when I created this series, that I called ‘Cogitation’.

Contemplating our human condition and encouraging the mindfull state of mind we expereince for instance; when viewing art.

This weekend (27th of April 2019) coming, Crystal Palaces Artists are opening their doors for the weekend.

So why not come out and ponder over Art at OPEN STUDIOS in Crystal Palace 

and ponder of what you see and how you feel.

Get out in this city of ours and discover what is around you and how you feel within.

You never know what beauty you may find in things you may not have considered worth a second look – or just thinking about it.

I will be out and about to in Crystal Palace this weekend:  probably sipping a coffee at the Paxton Centre, whilst pondering and processing impression and things I rest my eyes upon or seeking inspiration of all those other talents around us. Having a sneak behind the scenes of those artists in Crystal Palace.

These paintings of mine are available as  Giclee Prints (beautiful pigment sprayed on thick paper),

COGITATION – Exhibition #studiomansionhouse

Here we are 2018 and I am pondering over how last year finished and the new year begun – all guns blazing. And developments are to be found left right and centre, but for now let’s look around us.

As many know my creative home with office and studio has not just given me the space to grow and develop it has also given  me amble situations to be inspired and to inspire.

This very view, walks and the trees have inspired my new artwork and conception  (so far only to be seen offline!) a series that I named ‘Cogitation’ .

Only last month (so last year, right !?!) have we come together as a collective and most of us Mansion artists have hung some work to be displayed for the Christmas celebrations and events.

I choose  portrait style images that have been immortalized in fine giclee prints and been brought into the material 3 dimensional world and graced these very walls of the Mansion.

And yes it was harder to get ’em up than you could imagine.

Well this was so very last year and my portfolio, sketch book, ideas and inspiration boards have grown and dare I mention my diary is nicely filling up with exciting assignments and happenings.

Still if you feel the need to contemplate and be pictured, creating an image of you that perhaps touches on a little bit more than just the surface :

Well now, there is so much happening on this end; that I have a little neglected to share all that there is…First and for most I am now settling into my new Office and Studio space where i certainly had the pleasure of testing all sorts of lighting and ideas …. and it is only the beginning, but here a sneak peak of the most recent work, forever growing my Team: of Assistance Make up,  prop Makers, Designers and all that!

And here just to illustrate , what difference it makes to have those additions to the creative process of Photography … a little BEFORE shot of the model ,

Portfolio 2016 part 2

Having reflected and pondered over 2016 , here a selection of images I posted on FB for my 21 day countdown to the new year… keen to do better and bigger this year , and oh my good there are some exciting projects in the pipeline.

As you may noticed, if you follow me over FB; that I have taken to counting the days to the New Year.

A 21 day catalogue of Highlights captured this year.

Using this Season for it’s original purpose to take stock , turn inwards and prepare for the New ahead – I would like to share my Highlights with you too.

Despite careful planning and consideration it is more often than not, that through play and happy accidents, some strong images are created and conceived and it is my greatest passion to capture and hold onto those fleeting moments,in a whirlwind of light, excitement & expression.

Finding that angle and setting the mood, creating that truthful pic…

None of this would be possible without a trusted Team and helpers, and I feel in recent month this has come to life – brilliantly.

Thanks to Kristy Prince for doing the Make up and getting the sitter camera ready, rearing to go… and all those other other helping hands, holding reflectors, shuffling props and are just there when needed (you know who you are), And all of that in the fabulous space that SIMULACRA STUDIO is, pleased to be a regular on those premises and the exceptional service included.

With the summer drawing to an end, I am reflecting once more on #Location #Photography, before I will retreat to the studio again – for my Photography session. Having had the pleasure to mingle with many Supporting Artists and Actors this summer on various Film and TV filmsets my insight and curiosity about this field of Photography has grown.

Discussing with Actors the difference between an ordinary headshot and its limitations, I have also set out to create the exact image (including carefully resourced props and location) as conceived by my clients, in order to create a new portfolio image, communicating characteristics about the sitter, perhaps not that often seen.

ON LOCATION #Headshots

I often wondered if the studio is the best place for a headshot session and I feel it has got its advantages,

…but there is something to be said about Locations Headshots. It adds a little texture and flavor to the background, hard to achieve in the studio, and quite often it gets a relaxed causal approach in the sitter.

Equipped with my new set of prime lenses and a keen I eye … this is an exciting field to explore.
