END OF YEAR … and into a new decade

I kept silent, not because there isn’t much to say – but because there is so much to tell. Gaining focus and formulating direction: to take my ambitions and skills forward, there is some exciting progress ahead.

A lot of baby steps have been taken to figure it all out – and things come to fruition!

Accumulating thoughts and nailing a few action steps, retreating on the beach and sun this winter. I am truly enthused to tackle what lies ahead!

Watch this space I will update you on progress in #production #filmmaking #artdepartment #photography

For now wishing you a good start into the new year and decade.

Stay tuned and keep moving … forward šŸ˜‰

The creative aftermath

brush and plate

With recent development in my creative endeavours, mostly away from the camera I have fully committed to the creative industry and an involvement in the 3 dimensional world of making.

Not all so sure at all times; what will happen throughout this process and how to find the moment of reaching creative flow; is what currently intrigues me the most .

With perhaps a clear goal in mind or not – it is the process itself and what is experienced on that path, that gets most of my attention.Ā  It may not be the material, tools, skill or project that gets this motion rolling, but the ability and opportunity of place, space and being fully present.

And of course the inspiration of an end product is not to be dismissed, but I see that as an aftermath of the creative process itself.

Having spend endless amounts of time, behind a screen and camera; befriending the digital and virtual world my tactile senses of touch, texture and navigating on a 3 dimensional plane have been withering. This has changed and outside my work as a member of crew making things happen, my own arts practice is growing – and so am I.

Looking at a picture rather then an experience, wondering what the onlooker can see rather then what happens or had to happen when the picture unfolds in front of the lens; Is one of the perceptions I have set out to change.

bookmaking

In recent weeks and months I have offered Community workshops (Ā Bookmaking –Ā Ā andĀ Rubbish to roses) at my creative home, where I have my studio: at

Ā Beckenham Place Mansion

Only to offer this experience to others and observing the pleasure of people going through this process, pushing on when you wonder what you are actually doing, realising your very own personal preferences and aesthetics, sharing something quite personal in a group setting, allowing yourself to express, explore and play, learning about your senses and abilities in a joyfull way … coming a little closer to what makes you *you* .

An experience all to valuable in a world where we are mostly conditioned and subject to Consumerism and to perform or act out a role in order to obtain buying power.

So allow yourself to explore an innate human need to create and make and see where it takes you.

Happy to hear about your creative experiences good or bad šŸ™‚

SPRING at THE PAXTON CENTRE

tree

Some may have seen the ( unwatermarked) Giclee prints of these at Beckenham Mansion (one is permantly hanging in the cafe in the basement) at our open studio days.

But I have been invited to show my work atĀ The Paxton CentreĀ , this month.

Binary

The original prints are very different to these watermarked on screen impressions, but more important is the environment and ambience of the art cafe – which enhances the intentions, when I created this series, that I called ‘Cogitation’.

Contemplating our human condition and encouraging the mindfull state of mind we expereince for instance; when viewing art.

circuit

This weekend (27th of April 2019) coming, Crystal Palaces Artists are opening their doors for the weekend.

So why not come out and ponder over Art atĀ OPEN STUDIOS in Crystal PalaceĀ

and ponder of what you see and how you feel.

city

Get out in this city of ours and discover what is around you and how you feel within.

You never know what beauty you may find in things you may not have considered worth a second look – or just thinking about it.

dead flowers

I will be out and about to in Crystal Palace this weekend:Ā  probably sipping a coffee at the Paxton Centre, whilst pondering and processing impression and things I rest my eyes upon or seeking inspiration of all those other talents around us. Having a sneak behind the scenes of those artists in Crystal Palace.

Get in touch over social media , happy to share impressions and views and listen to yours.

framed and ready to adorn your walls, at the Paxton Centre. All of my work will come down next week, so get out there and get a piece of art to ponder over.

Happy spring and new beginnings to you all.

A picture of vision

visionboard

As time passes I have been transitioning from Photography and capturing what is ( in front of the lens) to a bigger intrigue of what we can’t see, the world of the Arts and the creative Industry.

book 6

As Photographer I have been able to capture what is ‘real’; often following the guidance of intuition and what feels right and true.

With recent developments of my work life in the creative industry ( Supporting Artist for TV & Film and other productions)Ā  the artsĀ  has become a new focus and I have taken up the arts practice of painting andĀ  artprints – contemplating humanity and the current social realism.

book 2

With my studio practice atĀ BECKENHAM PLACE MANSIONĀ as Photographer ( yes I still take Portraits, intrigued by each individual, that comes to sit in Photography Studio sessions) and Artist( exhibiting at present and in the past year) ; nestled in a growing and changing community and park, the arts has become more of an immediate interest.

Expressing what is real in creations of ‘VisionBoards and Artist Books” ; an individual experience and vision but yet a uniting Intuition; visualising what you knew but couldn’t quite see.book 3.jpg

Looking to nurture thisĀ  instinct and the vision of creativity and change; following senses and a flow – often left behind in ordinary lives. I will be facilitating workshops at Beckenham place Mansion, open to the Community. Starting in May 2019.

Keep your eyes on theĀ EVENTS PAGE

You will be able to create your own vision board – I am there to help you along – or manipulate old books to create something new,

book 9

Often a quite brutal method to create something else- to make note of what is new ?

book 11

…or learn how to bind all those pieces of memory of your experiences, travels …

( those bits of paper you never know what to do with) into a book.

Hope to see you there – let’s get creative and get a picture of vision, embracing change and creativity.

#studiomansionhouse – one year on !

I have signed the lease one year ago and it was around this time, that I was settling dust paint things white and wondered what to do with the space- as potential was plentyfold!

And a magical journey it has been, with many of surprises – as you would expect of a start up business with ethical, curious and creative ambitions and intentions.

It’s been magical to keep faith an open mind – well and an open door at times; hoping that things will pan out and people will appreciate the work that I do and can do. As the landscape of the Ā photography industry is changing, day by day, so is my business.

As I do not want to give up on creating a sustainable enterprise and freelancers lifestyle, as there were too many moments where people have benefited from special moments shared.

Should it be in a Photography session, a topical debate, in a workshops, a photosurgery session, volunteering on projects or just a visit to explore some project ideas. It has been full of adventures and amazing what people brought to me to make me see the need for creativity and a life a little less ordinary.

studiomansionhouse

It has been full of adventures (achhemm did I mean challenges !??) Ā and amazing to see what people brought to me on their visits to studiomansionhouse (besides assignments and work) Ā to make me see the need for creativity and a life a little less ordinary.

Growing as an artist (surrounded by plenty of other talented artist at the Mansion) I am seeing my work grow above and beyond just taking a picture, pressing a button…; but to offer the experience of realizing what was once just thought of.

Thinking outside the box and with no criticism or judgment to perhaps discover something different about ones identity or at least to create a memory to last forever thereafter.

SELECTION 7

The creative process gotta be my favourite thing; to see things fall into place with the right intention. Happy to say that I can utilize that when I work in costumes/theatre or watch others get it right on film-sets, when on duty as supporting artist.

But all of this would not mean anything without *you* … šŸ™‚

COGITATION – Exhibition #studiomansionhouse

Here we are 2018 and I am pondering over how last year finished and the new year begun – all guns blazing. And developments are to be found left right and centre, but for now let’s look around us.

As many know my creative home with office and studio has not just given me the space to grow and develop it has also given Ā me amble situations to be inspired and to inspire.

This very view, walks and the trees have inspired my new artwork and conception Ā (so far only to be seen offline!) a series that I named ‘Cogitation’ .

cogitation print

Only last month (so last year, right !?!) have we come together as a collective and most of us Mansion artists have hung some work to be displayed for the Christmas celebrations and events.

Artists at the Mansion

I choose Ā portrait style images that have been immortalized in fine giclee prints and been brought into the material 3 dimensional world and graced these very walls of the Mansion.

And yes it was harder to get ’em up than you could imagine.

exhibition hanging

Well this was so very last year and my portfolio, sketch book, ideas and inspiration boards have grown and dare I mention my diary is nicely filling up with exciting assignments and happenings.

Still if you feel the need to contemplate and be pictured, creating an image of you that perhaps touches on a little bit more than just the surface :

Please contact me and book your visit at the Mansion, even if it is for just an informal visit and cuppa tea… Or let me know if you want to join my mailing list for the release and sharing of some of more artwork (Yep facebook is not gonna have those images anytime soon) .

You won’t forget or regret the experience.Portrait femme
