With Photography as a second leg to my freelance ambitions ( yes I am much more intrigued by and busy with doing things away from the camera – creating and making things happen) The assignments as Photographer becoming few and far in between.
When I do these photography jobs, they are pretty special and very enjoyable. As it is with this theatre production run I am currently assigned to as Photographer.
It reminded me of all the things, that I do like about photography; getting to know the people as an integral part ( appreciated and introduced) to the production. Meeting the cast, crew and musicians on their first get together and having an albeit brief but poignant 1-2-1 to create their headshots and portraiture. Seeing these pictures on social media and the internet (i.e. this BLOG ) and on banners & posters in print, reminded me that pictures meet a purpose; to shout about what is happening, honouring the people behind a production.
Well and the process throughout. Seeing the same faces on another day in heaven; that is the National theatre costume hire, observing and capturing the moments through the lens. Made me realise all that Photography has to offer – holding onto moments and efforts, more then just an end product.
To then follow up the progress with a visit on rehearsal days I am all too excited to see everything coming together on performance days, for the audience to enjoy in it’s full splendour – with costumes.
With pictures to document the process and not just to show off the end result, I rest assured that upon reflection these pictures meet a fully rounded purpose and excite my Photographers heart.
Stay tuned for what has yet to happen.
